The Seminole High School Warhawk Marching Band is a nationally renowned, award winning band that has performed locally and throughout the country during its 50 year tenure. The strong Tradition of Excellence for which they are known contributes to the success and high standards by which the band operates. The Marching Band is 120 members strong, and is a well respected leader in the Florida circuit. They currently compete in Class 4A, and attend several local competitions each year as well as FMBC Championships. In addition, every other year, they will travel out of state to a Bands of America Regional.
Membership in the Marching Band requires strenuous physical exertion and the ability to perform simultaneous musical and visual tasks. Rehearsals occur both on weeknights and weekends, and performances encompass both Friday night football games and Saturday competitions. Attendance at all rehearsals and performances is mandatory, both for the integrity of the show and for the safety of the performers. Volunteer participation and fundraising are a necessity in making this large ensemble's success a possibility. Each family is required to contribute both monetarily and in volunteer hours. There are many fundraising opportunities to help offset the financial burden, and many of our families are successful in fundraising the entire obligation. Please see Fair Share and Fundraising under the Booster link in the main menu for more information.
The accolades of the Seminole Warhawk Marching Band are numerous. A few include appearances in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California (2005 and 2013), Disney Christmas Day Parade (2007), Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade (2010), Virginia Beach National Marching Band Festival Grand Champions (1978), a half-time performance for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, multiple Grand Championships at the Tarpon Springs Outdoor Music Festival and Largo Golden Invitational, and more than 37 years of superior ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Association Marching Festivals. In addition, the Warhawk Band has been TWENTY FIVE time Bands of America Regional Finalists, two time Atlanta Regional Grand Champions, seven time Grand National Semi-Finalists, and two time Grand Nationals Finalists.
